From a young age, I always prefer to express myself through the illustrations and paintings over speech. In my teenage years, I acquired my first DSLR and began experimenting with digital photography, I was particularly interested in macro photography as it gives me the opportunity to explore the details of floras and fauna which are far too small to be seen by the human eye.
I learnt to dive during my student years at a university dive club and began my journey of underwater photography when my dive buddy Tony captured a fine portrait of myself diving in the cold, murky quarry in the middle of Leicestershire (a.k.a. Stoney Cove) with a point and shoot camera plus a strobe light. Starting with a preloved camera rig on eBay, my underwater photography experiment and equipment snowballed. Currently I use an Olympus EPL10 with an Olympus 60mm macro lens and Olympus 7-14mm for wide angle works.
Aside from underwater photography, I am a Physics teacher during the day and occasionally teach scuba diving in BSAC clubs. I also enjoy traveling during holidays. I am currently undergoing overhead environment training in preparation for cave exploration in the future.
It is always hard to give a name. One of my goals whilst diving around PNG is to find the elusive lacy scorpionfish - Rhinopias aphanes which can only be found in PNG, Queensland and all the way to Vanuatu. It is hard to find one as it is very well camouflaged with its surroundings. On that very day whilst diving the new wreck MV Burai, the normally chilled dive guide Raga suddenly became over joyous as he found the lacy scorpionfish which were not seen locally for nearly a year!
As a result, I finally got the motivation to start writing this website. Told you I am lazy.
